Topic: Trends in Telecom Domain

Telecom vertical is the one wherein change is a constant phenomenon. While the industry has moved the centre of focus from operator to customer, lot of aspects are responsible for this change. Traditionally voice was the only means of communication wherein today voice on any media, voice on any technology is a theme. Service portfolio of operator has gone beyond traditional communication boundary with explosion of services. Triple+ play is going to be a lifestyle. Convergence is a key for today’s telecom business; both from operator’s as well as customer’s perspective. Silo industry of past has moved towards partnership model and cloud aka sharing has become new mantra. Mergers and acquisitions have added new dimension to company’s image, service portfolio and so the challenges. Networks have transformed from silos to converge once with barriers amongst them almost diminished. Telecom IT stack have gone through phases of transformation from bespoke solution to the present stack based architecture with COTS. With global completion and theory of equivalence surviving in competition is challenging. While all dimensions have great pace, rhythm and momentum, having standard spectacles to look all aspects is very important and Telecom frameworks plays a crucial role here. All this has created sheer opportunities as well as challenges to the overall ecosystem; may it be TEM, ISV or TSP.
